EFT on phone at the Mercola Clinic

Included in 10 years EFT therapy experience, I can point with great pride to my doing energy psychology as an active member on the treating staff of Dr. Joseph Mercola’s Alternative Medicine clinic, the world-famous Optimal Wellness Center. While at the Mercola clinic I performed in-office and EFT by phone for his many patients, and I personally improved my EFT skills by learning a slight variation that I call “Mercola EFT.”

Perhaps I should mention that it was at the Mercola clinic that I was first introduced to the idea of extensive and primary use of EFT phone consultations. Previously, I had more experience doing EFT in the traditional face-to-face in-office setting, but it was here that I learned the many outright benefits of doing EFT on the phone. To my surprise, I learned that Dr. Mercola’s patients often prefer to do EFT by phone because it offers a sense of privacy that is comforting while discussing personal issues. In addition, everyone enjoys the ease and economy of being at home in their own comfortable environment while doing EFT telephone session therapy.

Because of my experience and reputation for performing EFT, I was hired to work at the Optimal Wellness Center to assist their great effort for excellence in patient care. Since Dr. Mercola has such a large national and international reputation in Alternative Medicine, not only did I perform EFT for many patients directly in Dr. Mercola’s office, but a large percent of the EFT therapy I did was phone EFT for those who lived too far away for ongoing office Emotional Freedom Technique . EFT on the phone was done with patients from all parts of the U.S., Canada and many English-speaking parts of the world. Once a patient had been seen at the Mercola clinic, if that person lived a great distance away, their care might include the modern “virtual clinic” experience of using EFT phone counseling. While I had done a lot of EFT on the phone previously, I learned how to do it much better by incorporating Mercola EFT.

Allow me to explain a little about what I happen to call Mercola EFT. While EFT staff members who do EFT therapy for Dr. Mercola use all of the standard EFT protocol of Gary Craig, there are several additional key procedures they stress. They have not drastically changed standard EFT technique; they simply emphasize a few areas more than others who do EFT on the phone.

Dr. Mercola’s staff will always lay emphasis on EFT repetition by providing “EFT homework.” At the end of each telephone EFT consultation, an email is sent that outlines the main points covered that day, along with perhaps three to six EFT set up statements that were used during the session. In this way, the patient has documentation of the personal issues that were covered that day, as well as a reminder of the work that should be continued and repeated until their next doing EFT over the phone.

During each phone EFT session, forgiveness is always stressed. While many people find it difficult to forgive those who injured them in the past, the EFT therapists at the Optimal Wellness Center spend time educating patients about the personal benefit of forgiveness. Those who feel they simply cannot forgive are asked to merely say the words, until they might find a place in their heart when they will later feel a sense of genuine forgiveness.

In addition to the traditional seven body points tapped while repeating the EFT reminder phrase, two additional steps shown are included at the Mercola clinic. At the mercola.com website, these two additional acupressure points are demonstrated – the very first one and the very last one that shows Dr. Mercola tapping on the top of the head, and tapping the inner surface of the wrists against each other. While doing phone EFT it is simply a matter of guiding the client from one tapping point to the next, by saying, “top of head,” “eye brow,” etc.

Today, working in my own private EFT telephone practice, I continue to use the principles of Mercola EFT for my clients. I am grateful to Dr. Mercola for the opportunity to use EFT therapy for his many wonderful patients, and for what I learned about doing EFT on the phone better and the quality of care I call Mercola EFT.
